Premium Coffee Chaff
Chaff is the husk from a coffee bean, and is a byproduct during the roasting process as the beans shed their protective skin. The result is a very light and fluffy texture that has proven to be an excellent gardening, composting and animal bedding alternative. What a way to recycle & be eco-friendly in what previously went straight to the landfill! It is a 100% natural composting agent
- Composting Use: This is the number one use for using coffee chaff. Since the texture is light and airy, it mixes well with other compostable contents. It’s best to add a layer of chaff onto food waste and then more compost on top of the chaff to prevent it blowing away and allow it to absorb water. ,
- Soil Enrichment: Coffee chaff is rich in nitrogen and so not only enriches soil but helps fast-growing vegetables like tomatoes grow well. It also helps to ward off pesky slugs and snails as they can’t stand the smell of coffee.
- Animal Bedding Alternative: Alternative to the timber industry, chaff has proven to be a good alternative for animal bedding for chickens and rabbits . It also clumps with chicken poop a bit like scoopable kitty litter–easy to remove from coop.
We package it in a 18x12x8 shipping box, and the weight will vary upon density. Limited Supplies due to roasting schedule.
