Uganda Rwenzori Natural
Producers: Bukonzo Farmers Group, which is a part of the Bakonzo tribe. Many farmers have small farms, generally done by hand .
Region: Rwenzori- Found in Western Uganda bordering the DR of Congo. The Rwenzori Mountain aka the Mountains of the Moon (pictured) is very important to this region. Its snow-capped peaks and glaciers produce many rivers for the region. High altitudes and bi-modal rainfall season works great in growing Arabica coffee.
Process: Hand-picked and dried on raised African beds in poly tunnels. Coffee is shade-grown under banana trees.
Roast Level: Medium & Dark
- Medium: Creamy mouthfeel, prominent raspberry jam and grape acidity with cocoa finish
- Dark: Heavy earthy mouthfeel, prominent cranberry jam with cocoa finish
Cupping Notes: 9/2020- Compared to an Ethiopian Harrar Natural. Medium Roast- Creamy mouthfeel with prominent strawberry/raspberry jam & grape acidity with cocoa overtones. The dark roast had a deeper jam flavor, more like cranberry. It has a finish of herbal notes and still had strong cocoa notes.
